Jacob Waake Tumbulto – Project Manager
Dr. Jacob Waake Tumbulto was appointed as the Volta-HYCOS Project Manager in January 2006 to assist WMO in implementing the Volta-HYCOS project. He works with seconded staff from the Institute of Research for Development (IRD).
He is responsible for coordinating the project partners, including IRD, the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) and the participating countries in the Volta-HYCOS project. His main research interest is aimed at preventing children from drowning around in waterways and pools.
Dr. Tumbulto has been a University Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant in Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering in Ghana. He was a Research Scientist at the Water Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR in Accra, Ghana.
Before joining the Volta-HYCOS project, he was the Water Resources Specialist from Ghana on the World Conservation Union’s (IUCN) project on Improving Water Governance in the Volta Basin with the French acronym PAGEV, a project between Burkina Faso and Ghana on the Volta basin.
Dr. Tumbulto has a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana (1982) . He holds a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering (Water Resources ) from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada (1988) and a Ph.D in Hydrology from the University of Ghana, Legon (2006).
