Project proposals in advanced development stage

For these components, once ascertained the interest and commitment of the involved countries to cooperate in implementing a project in the WHYCOS framework, WMO is preparing a project proposal, in collaboration with the countries or a regional institution.
 

Sava-HYCOS

The aim of the project is to re-establish and upgrade the hydrological observing and information infrastructure in all the riparian states of the Sava River Basin, strengthen national hydrological forecasting capabilities, and establish an efficient regional hydrological information system. Senegal-HYCOS

The main focus of the project will be to establish a basin-wide system to acquire, manage and disseminate water-related environmental data and information in near-real time and in an integrated manner. (more)


IGAD-HYCOS

A first project proposal was prepared with support form the European Commission. The project will provide the participating six countries with an information system, a tool for regional integrated water resources assessment, monitoring and management. It will reinforce the regional infrastructure for data collection, transmission, archiving and retrieval. It will also enhance the skills of the NHS’s personnel in various technical fields related to the project. (more)


Hindu Kush Himalaya-HYCOS (HKH)

The project goal will be to establish an efficient and operational flood information system based on real-time data and information on a regional level involving the six countries of the region. A data transmission and information dissemination strategy has been developed in cooperation with the donors. (more)


Lake Chad-HYCOS

Lake Chad-HYCOS is one of the various basin wide components on large trans-boundary river basin developed as a follow up to the implementation of AOC-HYCOS Pilot Phase. (more)


Aral-HYCOS

The project, which will be complementary to the World Bank funded activities in the area, will provide for real-time transmission of hydrological data from a network of observation stations to national centres and a regional centre, for the establishment of a regional coordinating centre and for training of hydrological personnel.
